Week 5 Recap
Week 5 recap of the NFL season. For this week 5 recap I’m doing this one a little bit different. Let’s start this with the Thursday night game. Feel free to comment which recaps you like better.
Thursday Night Football
So this Thursday night football game was a back and forth see-saw battle all game long. That ended up seeing the Seahawks hanging on for the win. With just 15 seconds remaining in the game Greg (the leg) Zuerlein misfires on a go-ahead FG for the Rams. The Seahawks this week will travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns. As far as the Rams they will host the 49ers.
Sunday 1:00 Games
Week 5 of NFL action saw a bunch of Sunday 1:00 games. So I will give a little snippet of each game. With that being said, let’s get to it. First game is Bills vs Titans.
The Buffalo Bills were happy to get QB Josh Allen back this week after he was concussed last week. Buffalo takes the victory on Williams TD reception in 4th quarter.
Texans QB Deshaun Watson and Will Fuller V were just magically on Sunday. Watson passes for 426 yds, 5 TD’S while Fuller V has 14 receptions for 217 yards and 3 TD’S. Matty ice had a good game as well throwing for 330 yds 3 TD’S and 1 Int.
This game went back and forth for all 4 quarters. Most notable mention in this game was the hit Mason Rudolph took. As he dropped back on a pass Earl Thomas finished his hit. Rudolph got rocked and was knocked out before he hit the ground. Baltimore would go on behind Tucker’s game-winning FG for the Ravens win in OT.
More 1:00 Games
Highlight of this game was the Redskins were actually beating the Patriots 7-0. Then the Patriots went on to score 33 unanswered points. Game was close at halftime with the Pats up 12-7.
Kyler Murray would get his first NFL win on Sunday. As he did it his his legs rushing for 91yds. The Cards had the running game working today. The Bengals struggles continue this year. Gonzalez kicks game-winning FG for Cardinals with 2 seconds left.
Down to the wire this game went. Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey scores 2 TD’S rushing, 1 receiving while racking up 237 total yds on 25 touches. Last week Leonard Fournette had a career high in rushing yards. He followed it up with another good game going for 108 yds and a TD.
Another exciting game on Sunday was this one. Saints WR Michael Thomas had 182 yds receiving, 2 TD’S. Teddy Bridgewater was also stellar in this victory 314 passing yards and 4 TD’S. Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin is having a phenomenal season and it continued in this one with 125 yards and 2 TD’S.
Eagles defense was dominant as CB Scandrick stars on defense with 2 sacks and a fumble recovery TD. So the Jets are still looking for their first win this season. So good news for the Jets starting QB Sam Darnold is cleared to play this week.
A week after Kirk Cousins apologies for missing opportunity to Adam Thielen both had big games. Vikings WR Thielen had 7 catches for 130 yds receiving, 2 TD’S. Not to be out done was Dalvin Cook who combined for 218 yds (132 rushing & 86 receiving).
This was a game of two halves. The Raiders came out firing and took a 17-0 lead into halftime. Then the Bears woke up scoring 21 straight points to make it a game. Then the Bears’ defense gave up a TD with 1:57 left to go. Chicago with the ball now would see Chase Daniel throw a pick to pretty much end the game.
Sunday 4:00 Games
With the 1:00 games all wrapped up. There was only a pair of 4:00 games. The Broncos vs the Charges and the Packers taking on the Cowboys.
Phillip Lindsey was the star of this game for the Broncos as he rushed for 114 yards and a score. Denver led this game 17-0 going into the half. Also the Broncos would withstand a Chargers late rally.
With star receiver Davante Adams out the Packers would look to run the ball. With that said RB Aaron Jones would dominate going for 107 yards and 4 TD’S. Dallas would make the final score look close but was never really in this game.
Sunday Night Football
This Sunday night football game saw the unbeating Kansas City Chiefs take on the Indianapolis Colts. Last year MVP Patrick Mahomes was supposed to have his way in this game. But not so fast as the Colts had an answer for just about everything. Except for one play in the second quarter. As Patrick dropped back and started scrambling it looked like something you would find in a Madden game, before finding Byron Pringle in the end zone for a touchdown. Scary moment in the second quarter for Chief’s fans as Mahomes had his ankle rolled on. Mahomes limped off the field but would stay in the game. In the third quarter Mahomes this time would have his ankle stepped on by his O-lineman. That was the kind of night it was for the Chiefs. As the Colts would hand a rare loss to the heavily favored Chiefs.
Monday Night Football
Monday night football headed to San Francisco where the Browns would visit the 3-0 49ers. Before all the fans were seated, on the first 49ers possession and first play Matt Breida ran 83 yards for a TD. Nick Bosa was looking for revenge on Baker Mayfield from college. As a Mayfield led Oklahoma team beat Bosa’s Ohio State team. Mayfield proceeded to plant the Oklahoma flag at midfield. Bosa would get his revenge as he forced Mayfield into a intentional grounding penalty and then mimicked Mayfield’s antics. Bosa ended the game with 2 sacks and 1 forced fumble. The Niners just ran away with this game.
